Simon Kaja, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kaja is an experienced neurobiologist and with more than fifteen years' research experience in the academic, biotech and pharmaceutical industry setting.
Dr. Kaja holds an academic appointment at Loyola University Chicago, where he serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Molecular Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Furthermore, Dr. Kaja is the Dr. John P. and Therese E. Mulcahy Endowed Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Visual Neurobiology and Signal Transduction Laboratory.
In addition, Dr. Kaja hold the position of Chief Scientific Officer for Experimentica Ltd., a preclinical CRO specializing in ophthalmic models.
The focus of his academic research program centers around human visual, neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. Educated and trained in both Europe and North America, Dr. Kaja brings hands-on and managerial experience in experimental approaches ranging from molecular biology to electrophysiology and imaging to K&P Scientific LLC.
Dr. Kaja consults in his areas of primary expertise, translational research approaches to drug discovery for cerebellar ataxia, dry-eye disease and migraine as well aspects of advanced high-resolution live-cell imaging.

Andrew J. Payne, Ph.D. - President
Dr. Payne has completed his trainig in pharmacology and neuroscience and brings a strong background of entrepreneurship to K&P Scientific LLC.
Dr. Payne's research interest lies in drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, focusing on evolutionary conserved signaling pathways as novel targets.
With a vision for novel, innovative products for research, Dr. Payne heads the New Products division at K&P Scientific LLC and serves as President of the company.
Martin Engel, Ph.D. - Freelance Consultant
Dr. Engel is an experimental neurobiologist, investigating novel treatment candidates for psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. He has over five years' experience in academic and pharmaceutical research settings, focusing on the regulation of intracellular signalling pathways.
Dr. Engel's expertise lies in combining in vitro and in vivo methods to enable quick translation into the clinical setting. Educated and trained in Europe and the Asia/Pacific region, Dr. Engel's focus areas include in vitro 2D-3D culture (rodent primary and human stem cell derived neuronal cultures), in vivo microdialysis and behavioral research paradigms. These are complimented by standard biochemistry assays, advanced mass spectrometry and imaging capabilities.

Yuliya Naumchuk - Freelance Consultant
Ms. Naumchuk has a strong interest in neurological and visual disorders. She has published multiple papers in international peer-reviewed journals on the synaptic mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of these diseases.
Ms. Naumchuk's expertise lies in advising on experimental design and target identification based on the challenges faced in clinical practice.
